Safety and Security Rebate

Western Australian Seniors Card members can now claim up to $400 per household towards the purchase of eligible home security equipment.

Eligible items must be purchased, installed and paid in full prior to the claim being made.

Elegibile items

WA Seniors Card members can receive a rebate of up to $400 for the purchase and installation of devices such as:

• A home alarm

  (minimum purchase/installation value of $200)

• A CCTV system

  (minimum purchase/installation value of $200)

• A WiFi video doorbell

  (minimum purchase/installation value of $100. Does not include ongoing subscription fees)

Key requirements

To meet the requirements of the Safety and Security Rebate, items purchased must meet the relevant Australian Standards, and any installation work must be carried out by a licensed tradesperson.

The Security and Related Activities (Control) Regulation 1997 provides that tradespersons must have a valid Security Installer licence that is issued by WA Police in order to install, maintain or repair security alarms or cctv systems.

Further to this requirement, the business must have a valid Security Agent licence issued by WA Police.

How to apply for the rebate

There are many ways you can apply for the Safety and Security Rebate:

Option 1: Apply via your WA Seniors Card account.

Option 2: You can download an application form from here. Once completed, you can post the application form with a copy of the tax receipt or email a scanned copy to info@seniorscard.wa.gov.au

Option 3: Visit the WA Seniors Card Centre at 140 William Street, Perth or any Department of Communities customer service counter.
